Speaking of inefficiencies…

The other day the kid was coming back from a gymnastics event for a couple of the special needs kids he coaches and passed an outlet mall that has a Converse store (he’s into Converse stuff) so he stopped and  bought himself a pair of shoes (no, not the dayglo ones), mainly because they were on sale and only cost him $20.

Well it turns out they were too small and since it’s a bit of a drive and he was working all day today my wife offered to take them back for him since it would give her a chance to go look around the shops anyway!

If you factor in the cost of gas to get there and back vs the cost of the shoes, it would have made more financial sense to just give the kid the $20 for the shoes and then sell them on Craigslist for ten bucks. We’d have still come out ahead.

Mind you as a result of going there, we took the opportunity to go and visit the International Civil Rights Museum located in the original F.W. Woolworth store in Greensboro, North Carolina. If you ever get the opportunity to go, do so. It is well worth a visit because this is living history that happened, if not in your life time, certainly in mine.
