You probably know that 42 is the answer to “the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything “ in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams. It also leaves us with the problem of not telling us what the exactly the “Ultimate Question” was in the first place, since it only provides us with an answer.
I also recall that in the original BBC TV series, the ultimate question turned out to be what is six times nine, and yes I am that old!
Still, as humorous as that all may be I am sure that most of us have, at one time or another asked the question “why am I here?” and while I can’t promise that I have actually figured that out, this old brain of mine has not let go of this topic for some time now.
Normally what happens is that I forget about these things and they fade into obscurity but this one is sticking with me and I think the only way to rid myself of it is be to actually write it down and tell the world.
Now, if you followed the Hitchhiker’s guide, you’ll know that in the story, the earth is really a big super computer built by the mice to find out what the ultimate question actually is and that just as some woman in a coffee shop was about to reveal it, the Vogons came along and destroyed the planet.
So, if you see a big spaceship in the sky in the next few days as I write this out, you can be assured that I am on the right track, otherwise it’s probably just another crazy theory. But it is MY crazy theory and if that makes me crazy, well, there’s nothing new there is there!
